2013 Report: Signs of Safety in England

The National Society for the Prevention for Cruelty to Children, (NSPCC) in England commissioned the preparation of a comprehensive report about the use of the Signs of Safety in England. The report was written by Amanda Bunn and was released at a public event in London on March 22nd.The report offers a detailed description of the Signs of Safety model looking at the theory, aims and method of the model, examines the research literature and reports on the experiences of practitioners using the approach in England.

Key findings include:

  • Signs of Safety methods were thought to increase participation, co-operation and the engagement of parents/families;
  • the model helped practitioners to be more specific about child protection issues; and
  • the tools gave younger children a voice and a direct say in casework

The report can be accessed here.
